Security update for Chrome 88 available

Developers fixed six security vulnerabilities with one considered critical.

The new Chrome version 88.0.4324.146 for Windows, macOS and Linux from February 2 fixes several vulnerabilities, some of them serious. The Chrome Release Blog lists six fixed security vulnerabilities. Among them is a vulnerability (CVE-2021-21142) that Google classified as critical. It is a use-after-free gap in the payment module.

There are four vulnerabilities that Google classified as high risk. These are two other use-after-free gaps and two buffer overflows in various browser components.

Updates are available via the update function integrated in the browser. They are usually downloaded and installed automatically. If you do not want to wait, you can also start the update manually via the Help tab in the Chrome browser.

Other Chromium-based browsers will probably follow with according updates within the next few days.
