The update fixes 62 security vulnerabilities and comes with new features.
Microsoft has completed the transition to Edge Browser version 147. Version 147.0.3912.60 fixes 62 security vulnerabilities. These include the 60 vulnerabilities already addressed in Google Chrome, as well as two Microsoft-specific vulnerabilities, CVE-2026-33118 and CVE-2026-33119. New features and policy changes/new policies are also included.
Changes in the new version
-
Microsoft is beginning to discontinue "Collections." Existing "Collections" users will see a banner. Users will no longer be able to add new items to "Collections." To keep saved content, users can export it or move all pages to their Favorites.
-
Migration to the improved V2 architecture for workspaces
-
The internal Edge container page that hosts the compliant M365 Copilot Chat in the sidebar has been updated. Blocking internal edge:// or chrome-untrusted:// URLs is not recommended, as this can lead to unexpected errors and disable the Microsoft 365 Sidebar Copilot Chat feature.
-
Settings for Copilot features are being consolidated on a single AI settings page for a unified settings experience. Existing admin controls and policy configurations will still apply.
-
Users will no longer be able to create a new custom primary password in Edge settings (edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings). Users who have already configured a custom primary password will receive a warning that the feature will be retired on June 4, 2026. On June 4, 2026, all users still using a custom primary password will be automatically switched to device authentication.
Feature enhancements
-
More precise choices in third-party cookie settings. The wording under Settings > Privacy, search & services > Cookies has been clarified.
-
A new toggle button has been added to profile settings, allowing users to create or remove the profile desktop shortcut. Available for Windows devices only.
-
Search, chat, and explore the web from a single search box with Copilot-suggested actions and curated work content, helping your users get things done faster on the new, redesigned Copilot New Tab page. Administrators can control the availability of this feature using the CopilotNewTabPageEnabled policy.
