What's New
Foxit Workspace. The biggest addition is Workspace, which lets users build a project around a document or topic and have the AI Assistant review source materials, extract and organize information, draft content, and produce reusable outputs — documents, images, presentations, mind maps, diagrams, infographics, web pages, and Markdown. The idea is to move from simple chat-based Q&A toward actually completing tasks.
Smarter AI Chat. The redesigned AI Assistant Chat has been upgraded from a basic question-and-answer interface into an agent that can work in cycles, hold context across a conversation, and call on tools as needed — rather than just answering one question at a time.
Core AI Assistant capabilities. Built into both Foxit PDF Editor and PDF Reader, the Assistant can answer questions with citations, summarize documents, translate full documents, generate automatic bookmarks, create images, read documents aloud, and run built-in or custom Skills.
A word of caution. Foxit Reader has grown feature-rich over the years, and some users find the installer bloated — it's worth being selective about which components you install if you want a leaner setup. If you just need basic PDF viewing without the AI extras, Sumatra PDF remains a lightweight open-source alternative.
