Microsoft Edge has released Edge version 140 (140.0.3485.54). This also updated the extended stable version, as the version number is now even again. This update closes the Microsoft-specific security vulnerability CVE-2025-53791 and three other vulnerabilities.

Version 140 also included a number of new policies, as well as policies that have been deprecated or removed. Edge 140 also saw a number of feature improvements. Many of these are aimed at businesses.

Microsoft Edge – What's New

• Centralized Feature Control: Admins can now manage AI and cloud services (like Translate, Compose, Auto Tab Grouping) from one place with Connected Feature Control (CFC).

• Scareware Blocker: AI-powered protection against scareware is enabled by default on higher-end devices. Admins can manage it via policy.

• Tab Groups Auto-Save: Edge now saves tab groups automatically, making it easier to return to your work.

• HTTPS-First Mode: Edge will try to upgrade sites to HTTPS and warn users if only HTTP is available.

• Extension Updates: Extensions are easier to find—persistent puzzle icon on the toolbar, plus quick access to edge://extensions and the Add-ons Store.

• Performance & Sync Fixes: Faster Collected Cookies dialog and new reset options for sync issues.

• AI Tools:

Bing Video Creator: Generate AI videos from text prompts (personal accounts only).

Visual Search: Right-click an image to get AI-powered insights instantly.

• Other Updates:

Auto-discarding long-sleeping tabs to save memory.

Wallet feature being retired.

Improved update notifications.

Deprecation of some storage and update policies.
