Bandizip 7.44 Patches Two Security Vulnerabilities

Bandizip, the popular free archive manager for Windows, has released version 7.44 and this one is a security-focused update that all users should apply promptly.
What's Fixed in 7.44
Bandizip 7.44 (Build 71613, released June 10, 2026) addresses two security vulnerabilities:
- KVE-2026-0742 — A security flaw that could be triggered during parallel decompression of ZIP files has been resolved.
- MoTW bypass fix — A vulnerability where Mark-of-the-Web (MoTW) information could be stripped from extracted files due to filename handling issues has been patched. MoTW is a Windows security feature that flags files downloaded from the internet; its removal could allow malicious files to bypass SmartScreen and other security warnings.
While Bandizip 7.44 is a maintenance-focused release without new features, the MoTW fix in particular is important for everyday security. Bandizip 8.0 Beta continues in parallel development for those who want to try the next generation of the app.
