Kodi 18.9 release available

The update fixes some issues.

The Kodi developers have released an update for Kodi 18.x. Kodi 18.9 is a bug fix release that fixes problems with http access to websites, for example to retrieve metadata. The update does not include new functionality. Here you can read the full changelog.

Actually, Kodi 18.8, released at the end of July 2020, should have been the last version of the 18.x Leia generation, as the makers of the media center software emphasized at the time. Since its appearance, the Kodi developers have been concentrating entirely on Kodi 19.x Matrix.

Kodi 18.8 introduced improvements and bug fixes. The developers eliminated a serious security vulnerability in gnutls. However, this only affected Kodi on Linux systems. Also interesting for Linux users were bug fixes when accessing the video database under Ubuntu 20.4. There have been improvements to MariaDB for the Android version of Kodi. Kodi manages and plays most of the videos, music, pictures and games. It also enables streaming of music and videos from various sources such as Spotify, Twitch or Live TV via numerous add-ons. Kodi plays most media formats and codecs such as AAC, Flac or H.264 and H.265. In order to be able to enjoy the media experience from the couch, the interface also supports large televisions and the use of a remote control. As an open source project, you can customize Kodi with numerous add-ons and skins from the website.

Kodi 18.9 is available for free download for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android as well as iOS.
