Fort Firewall 3.20.5 Fixes a Clear Alerts Regression
A fast follow-up update makes sure dismissed warnings really stay dismissed.
Firewalls are the kind of software you want to forget about, until a button you click does not quite do what it says. Fort Firewall 3.20.5 arrives just two days after 3.20.4 to straighten out exactly that kind of hiccup.
The quick fix
Version 3.20.4 introduced a regression in the Programs tab: using Clear Alerts did not reset the driver's alerted flags, so apps could stay flagged even after you dismissed their warnings. The new build resets those flags too. The Network Filter screen also received some further polish.
What came with 3.20.4
Because the two builds arrived back to back, you will want the earlier changes as well. The Interface options gain a Style Sheet setting, so you can restyle the window to your taste. In the Network Filter you can now edit protocols and areas as plain text, which is far quicker than clicking through lists when you manage many rules. Under the hood, SQLite moves to 3.54.0, a driver problem with re-registering the provider on Windows Insider builds is repaired, and the installer is now built with Inno Setup 7, which detects Windows ARM64 natively.
Our verdict
If you skipped 3.20.4, go straight to 3.20.5 and enjoy both sets of improvements. Windows Insider testers and ARM64 owners benefit most from the driver and installer work. Anyone who clears alerts regularly should install without delay, since that is the bug this release exists to cure.
