Thunderbird 78.10.0 update fixes nine vulnerabilities

Following the latest updates for Firefox, updates for the Thunderbird mail program and Tor Browser are also available.

On April 19th, Mozilla released the new browser version Firefox 88.0 and Firefox ESR 78.10.0. The updates eliminated several security vulnerabilities. Mozilla's mail program Thunderbird and the Tor browser of the Tor project are based in part on Firefox code and are now also received updates.

The update to Firefox 88.0 fixed 13 security vulnerabilities with labeled as high risk. Some might be used for injecting and executing code. In addition, the developers have deactivated the support for the unencrypted File Transfer Protocol (FTP), which is considered to be insecure.

The new update to Thunderbird 78.10.0 fixes nine vulnerabilities that are listed in the Mozilla security report MFSA-2021-14. Mozilla classified two of them as high risk.

The Mozilla developers have fixed eight vulnerabilities Firefox ESR 78.10.0. The new Tor Browser 10.0.16, which is based on Firefox ESR 78.10.0, also benefits from this now. The new version also includes the current NoScript 11.2.4 extension. Tor Browser 10.0.16 is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The Seamonkey team updated the browser suite of the same name last week already. Seamonkey 2.53.7.1 is a bug fix update for version 2.53.7. Seamonkey lags behind Firefox in terms of development, but the developers are trying to at least fix the security vulnerabilities quickly.
