Telegram Desktop 7.3.1 Follows the Wallet Launch With Quick Fixes
Barely a day after the money-themed 7.3, a quick patch tightens wallet encryption and plugs a media leak.
New features rarely arrive perfectly polished, and Telegram's latest desktop client proves it. Version 7.3 introduced a money-themed headline feature, and just a day later, 7.3.1 shows up to clean up the rough edges.
Wallet fixes first
The most important repairs concern wallet encryption. Protecting the wallet with Windows Hello sometimes failed, and that problem has been corrected. A separate fix covers the saving of the same passcode in wallet encryption. If you plan to use Telegram for anything involving funds, these changes matter more than any cosmetic tweak.
Media and themes
Another correction deals with media that is restricted from copying: such files could end up in the Downloads folder, which defeats the purpose of the restriction. That leak is now closed. Custom themes also get attention, as some displayed wrong date colors. Finally, the option to attach a link in the photo editor was removed.
Our verdict
This is a small but sensible patch, and we would install it quickly if you use the wallet, protect it with Windows Hello, or care about content restrictions on shared media. Chat-only users will not notice much, yet there is no downside to updating, and keeping a messaging app current is good hygiene anyway. Theme tinkerers will enjoy the color fix.
