Mark Text 0.21.2 Adds Copy Path, Delete-to-Trash and Cleaner HTML Export

The distraction-free Markdown editor gets handier in the sidebar and fixes some stubborn path and export quirks on Windows.

Good Markdown editors disappear into the background so that you can simply write. Mark Text has long been popular for exactly that reason, and version 0.21.2, published on October 11, 2026, polishes the parts of the experience that tend to break your flow: finding files, sorting through them and exporting what you wrote.

A smarter sidebar

On Windows, the handling of paths in the sidebar and in tabs has been repaired, so files open and show up where you expect them. A new Copy Path entry in the sidebar context menu helps you grab a file's location in one click, which is welcome when you need to paste it into a note or a terminal. You can also now send the selected sidebar item to the trash with the Delete key, behaving like a regular file manager.

Export and formatting touches

Exports to HTML now keep a literal dollar-and-angle-bracket sequence intact instead of mangling it, a relief for anyone writing technical notes. Task lists with rectangular markers also line up properly with their text, so your checklists look neat.

Behind the scenes

The release keeps both x64 and arm64 installers in the automatic update manifests for Windows and macOS, repairs macOS arm64 signing after a change to Electron settings, refreshes dependencies and build tooling, and tidies the Japanese localization.

Our verdict

If you keep notes or documentation in a folder of Markdown files, the sidebar improvements make this a pleasant upgrade, and Windows users who ran into path problems should update right away. Casual users will notice less, but nothing here is risky.
