In addition to the monthly security updates for Windows, Microsoft yesterday also released a security update for Visual Studio 17.14, .NET 9.0.5, and 8.0.16. In all three versions, CVE-2025-26646, which was declared a spoofing vulnerability, was fixed.
For Visual Studio 2022 17.14, which has now reached final status, Microsoft has also published a detailed blog post that describes the new features in more detail.
As already mentioned, the security vulnerability has been closed in the .NET versions. You can read about further changes and the changes to the new .NET 10.0 Preview 4 in the individual release notes.
Visual Studio 2022 is now switching to monthly updates, emphasizing AI-powered Copilot features, improved integration, and quicker responses to user feedback. Users are encouraged to update immediately to version 17.14, with the next release planned for June. Additionally, development has begun on the next major Visual Studio version, expected later this year, with further details coming soon.
