Virus scanner: ClamAV 1.4.0 available for download
The update is available for Linux and Windows and offers a few new features
Boris WeberThe open source virus scanner ClamAV has been released for Linux and Windows in version 1.4.0. The current version has a few new features. Find the download here.
In an article about the current version, the developers explain that they will no longer offer a 32-bit Linux version. The reason for this is that support for their previous build environment based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 is ending. They are now using Alma Linux 8, which does not support 32-bit images.
Anyone who needs a 32-bit Linux version of the scanner can still create it themselves from the source code. There is still a 32-bit version available for download for Windows.
An ARM64 version is also available for download for Windows. There are currently no ARM64 packages for Linux.
New features
ClamAV can now also unpack ALZ and LHA/LZH archives and look for PC malware in them. The Image Fuzzy Hashing scan option can also be deactivated if desired. The function examines image files for embedded malware.
The developers have also made general improvements and eliminated bugs. For example, they have optimized the SystemD service for ClamOnAcc so that the service shuts down more quickly. In addition, several warnings during compilation have been fixed.
