Google has released the first security update for Chrome 91. Google provides the new browser version Chrome 91.0.4472.101 for the Windows, macOS and Linux platforms.

The Chrome Release Blog reports 14 fixed vulnerabilities. One of these is classified as critical (CVE-2021-30544), seven are classified as high risk and two others are classified as medium risk. Google is aware of an exploit for the CVE-2021-30551 vulnerability that is circulating already. The vulnerability is classified as high risk.

The vulnerabilities are mainly *Use after free" vulnerabilities in various browser components. As always, Google does not provide any information about the internally found vulnerabilities.

The manufacturers of other Chromium-based browsers now have to follow suit. At least with Microsoft (Edge) and Brave, experience shows that this should happen this week. A few hours before Google's Chrome update, Vivaldi upgraded its browser to the new version 4.0 (4.0.2312.24), which is now based on Chromium 91, but still on version 91.0.4472.79. Opera took the same step at the same time. The new Opera version 77 (77.0.4054.60) is based on Chromium 91.0.4472.77.
