HP takes care of malicious code gaps with BIOS updates to fix several vulnerabilities in HP computers. Some vulnerabilities only affect AMD systems.
Attackers could target various HP computer models such as EliteBook, Elite Mini and Mobile Thin Client. If attacks are successful, data could leak or malicious code could even get onto systems. BIOS updates help.
According to an alert, five vulnerabilities affect AMD-based PCs. Two of the vulnerabilities (CVE-2020-12930, CVE-2020-12931) have a high threat level. HP identified the affected models and the UEFI firmware protected against such attacks. What concrete attacks could look like is not yet known. AMD released updates to fix the potential vulnerabilities. HP has identified affected platforms and corresponding SoftPaqs to fix the potential vulnerabilities
Another vulnerability (CVE-2022-27538 high) also affects Intel systems. The developers list vulnerable devices and the available security patches in one post.
The vulnerability may allow arbitrary code execution, denial of service, and information disclosure. HP has identified the affected platforms and SoftPaqs are available to fix the vulnerabilities.
