UltraVNC 1.8.3.0 Released

UltraVNC, the free and open-source remote desktop tool for Windows, has moved from dev build to official release with version 1.8.3.0. The update is mostly a reliability and bugfix pass, but it closes a couple of issues that had been nagging longtime users.
What's new
- International keyboard fix — characters like
+ěščřžýáíé=´weren't being sent correctly; Viewer keyboard handling has been corrected for non-US layouts. - File Transfer stability — a buffer overflow and a memory leak in the file transfer module have both been fixed.
- Single-DLL packaging — the dev build's split DLLs (authSSPV2/loggingV2) have been merged into a single DLL, which also fixes garbled Event Viewer messages on x64 systems.
- Log file location — logs now live in the
ultravnc.inifolder by default, with an automatic fallback to the old folder if that file is missing. - Viewer fixes — default settings now load correctly on launch, command-line options take priority over saved settings, and encryption for view-only (VNC password) connections has been corrected.
- Assorted fixes: Echoserver, the broken
sc_20build, DSMPlugin/MS-Logon settings when running standalone, and a bug where UltraVNC's own log entries were dropped after the log file moved.
Why it matters
None of these are headline features, but the file-transfer memory leak and the international keyboard bug were real annoyances for admins and support techs who rely on UltraVNC daily — this release cleans both up along with a handful of smaller polish items.
