Total Commander 11.58 Available For Download

After five release candidates, C. Ghisler & Co. has shipped the final version of Total Commander 11.58. As is typical for a version that went through that many pre-releases, the changelog is long anda handful of additions and fixes stand out for everyday users.

What's New

• wincmd.ini [Packer] KeepPackerPassword=4 — the packer password is now forgotten once a header-encrypted archive is left in the active panel, tightening up handling of protected archives.
• QuickViewFollowLinks=4 added to wincmd.ini [Configuration], so Quick View now also follows .url files that point to other files or directories.
• LogEncryptedNames=1 lets Total Commander log file names from archives with encrypted headers. A warning window now appears whenever such an archive is opened — whether in the main program, during directory synchronization, or when unpacking one or more header-encrypted 7z/RAR archives without opening them first.
• A DeviceChange fix ensures WM_DEVICECHANGE is only ignored when a device is removed, not when one is connected — previously both events were ignored.
• New *cm_SortByCol1..99 parameters give scripts and buttons finer control over sort order: ascending, descending, toggling the primary sort, or changing/toggling the secondary sort column.
• Accessibility improvement: screen-reader text was added for the magnifier buttons in the button bar, start menu, and shortcut configuration dialogs.
• unrar.dll and unrar64.dll updated to version 7.23.0, matching the WinRAR 7.23 security release.
• Lister plugin string detection no longer reads past the 8192-byte buffer limit.
• The encrypted-names warning (LogEncryptedNames=1) now uses its own notification window so it doesn't disappear too early.
• tc7z.dll, tc7z64.dll, tc7z.sfx, tcmdlzma.dll, and tclzma64.dll updated to 7-Zip version 26.2.0.0 (7-Zip 26.02).
• Directory synchronization no longer shows the encrypted-header logging warning when logging is actually disabled.
