Thunderbird 151.0.1 and 140.11.1 ESR Released

Several new features were added and a potential crash was also fixed.

Mozilla has released updates for both of its active Thunderbird desktop branches: version 151.0.1 for the standard release channel and version 140.11.1 ESR for users on the extended support release. Both are available now via the built-in updater.

Thunderbird 151.0.1

This update fixes one targeted regression introduced in Thunderbird 151.0. Users who connect to Exchange accounts were seeing forwarded and redirected messages fail with the error NS_ERROR_OUT_OF_MEMORY. Despite the alarming error name, this was a bug in message handling rather than a genuine memory problem and it has now been resolved. Anyone using Thunderbird with a Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, or Outlook.com account who experienced forwarding failures after updating to 151.0 should find this release resolves the issue immediately.

Thunderbird 140.11.1 ESR

The ESR branch update contains no user-facing changes. Mozilla issued the point release for internal versioning and maintenance reasons. Users on the 140 ESR branch can update without any behavioral changes to expect.
