Not only Firefox has been updated to version 146 (or 140.6.0 ESR) by Mozilla, but Thunderbird now also received these version numbers now. This update includes security fixes for both versions. Thunderbird version 146.0 also includes new features and numerous bug fixes.

New in Thunderbird 146 is the ability to configure the preferred OpenPGP keyserver via the user interface. The mail team has also implemented another change: existing logins will be migrated to use more modern AES encryption.

• Memory was not cleared after opening a new window via the folder pane's context menu.

• Thunderbird could crash during server subscription logic.

• When importing a vCard, only VCF files were displayed in the file selection field.

• Opening a vCard (.vcf) from the file manager or the CLI did not work in some cases.

• Folders with the same name could not be distinguished in "Recent Destinations" and "Favorites."

• A new message could not be composed if the folder pane was empty.

• "Delete" was missing from the context menu when multiple IMAP folders were selected.

• The "Delete" button in the unified toolbar could delete attachments instead of messages.

• The "Recent Destinations" submenu was not sorted by modification time.

• The "Account" column could display an incorrect account name.

• The "Tag" submenu of the email context menu could be populated incorrectly.

• An incorrect expiration date was set when renewing an OpenPGP key.

• Signing/encrypting (PGP) failed when using the -compose option and Thunderbird was not running.

• Account Hub success messages were not always accurate regarding the configuration source.

• The Account Hub's advanced configuration settings lacked a default outgoing message configuration.

• Creating a local address book in the Account Hub could proceed with an empty name.

• The Account Hub could fail when manually creating an EWS account.

• The "Offline" flag for EWS folders was reset upon restart.

• A detailed security exception dialog was not displayed when adding a certificate exception.

• The default account could be reset after a restart if it was not initialized.

• Dragging attachments to a folder or the desktop no longer worked on macOS.

• The "Select this folder for offline use" EWS folder property did not function.

• Thunderbird could crash if an email folder was renamed or moved.

• "Open with" Microsoft Office attachments did not mark the file with the MOTW label.
