Telegram Desktop 7.1.0 Released for Windows

This update adds a couple of features aimed at communities and group admins.

Telegram has shipped version 7.1.0 of its Windows desktop client. This one builds further on the rich-message editor the team has been expanding all summer, adding a couple of features aimed at communities and group admins.

What's New

  • Welcome messages for groups and channels Admins can now set a custom welcome message that greets new members automatically.
  • Buttons and file blocks in rich messages The rich-text message editor introduced earlier this year now supports embedding interactive buttons and file attachments directly inside formatted messages.
  • Improved rich editor Better handling of lists, tables, and markdown pasting when composing rich messages, cleaning up formatting glitches from previous builds.

This follows a steady run of rich-message editor refinements in the 7.0.x branch (HTML export, AI-assisted editing tabs, and slideshow improvements among them), so 7.1.0 reads as the next logical step rather than a reinvention.
