SmartFTP 10.0.3330 Strengthens SSH Security and SFTP Compatibility

This release updates OpenSSL, hardens SSH connections and makes SFTP transfers work better with more servers.

SmartSoft has released SmartFTP 10.0.3330. This update to the file transfer client for FTP, SFTP, WebDAV and cloud storage focuses on security and reliability: it updates OpenSSL, hardens SSH connections and makes SFTP transfers work better with more servers.

What's New

  • OpenSSL 4.1.0: The bundled OpenSSL library is updated to the latest version.
  • SSH strict key exchange: Adds support for strict key exchange (kex-strict-c / kex-strict-s), which protects against the "Terrapin" attack.
  • ChaCha20-Poly1305: Adds the [email protected] cipher for SSH connections.
  • SFTP short-read handling: SFTP now handles incomplete ("short") reads correctly, for example from Windows' built-in OpenSSH server.
  • Out-of-order server responses: SFTP works better with servers that answer requests out of order, such as AWS Transfer Family, so fast back-to-back ("pipelined") transfers stay reliable.
