Sigil 2.8.1 is a bug-fix update for anyone building or editing EPUB ebooks with this free, open-source WYSIWYG editor.

What's New in Version 2.8.1

This release is entirely fixes, no new features:

  • Fixed multiple bugs in AddExisting that could occasionally add duplicate image entries or skip some XHTML imports
  • Fixed a bug where alt-image URLs on math tags weren't properly updated when files were moved or renamed
  • Prevented a crash in the Python replace function when handling regex expressions that PCRE2 recognizes but Python's re module can't
  • Fixed a bug re-opening BBEdit.app on macOS via "Open With" when BBEdit was already running
  • Launching PageEdit on macOS via the Preferred XEditor now always spawns a new copy of the PageApp
  • Fixed newlines occasionally being added to CSS files, which threw off sync-to-style
  • Fixed Mend and Prettify not working in Code View after a resource name change
  • Fixed a dropped newline in the TOC HTML writer that misaligned the Preview pane
  • Added workarounds for macOS Tahoe bugs that prevented modal native dialogs from working
  • Fixed the busy cursor not clearing during "Create an HTML TOC" import requests
