Sandboxie Plus 1.17.7 Released

The Update Brings Stability Fixes and INI Editor Improvements.

Sandboxie Plus 1.17.7 and Sandboxie Classic 5.72.7 are out, bringing a round of stability improvements and a handful of useful tweaks for power users who rely on the open-source sandboxing tool to isolate browsers and applications from the rest of their Windows system.

What's New in 1.17.7

New feature:

  • A new global option for ForceBoxDocs has been added under Program Control > Force Process Options, making it easier to configure forced document handling without manually editing the INI file.

INI editor improvements:

  • Better context-aware suggestions and key resolution
  • More accurate matching and improved tooltip behaviour
  • Rich text input disabled in the "Edit INI Section" dialog to prevent formatting issues

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a compatibility issue causing VMware guests running inside a sandbox to crash
  • Fixed problems with addon installation
  • Fixed encrypted sandbox imports
  • Fixed Data Protection sandboxes causing PowerShell to hang
  • Fixed folder enumeration and deletion issues
  • Fixed black-box import/export when SandMan is not running elevated
  • Improved short-name path handling

Sandboxie Plus is fully free and open-source. It remains one of the best tools for running untrusted software safely on Windows without needing a full virtual machine.
