RustDesk 1.4.7 Remote Desktop Software Gets Security and Usability Fixes
The RustDesk team has released version 1.4.7 as a final stable release.
For users of this free, open-source alternative to TeamViewer and AnyDesk, it's a solid maintenance update with several useful additions alongside the bug fixes.
What's New in RustDesk 1.4.7
The most notable new features in this release include brute-force protection for one-time passwords, a welcome security hardening for anyone exposing RustDesk to the internet. The toolbar in remote sessions can now be repositioned and snapped to any of the four edges of the window, giving users more flexibility over their workspace layout.
Android users get a new deployment flow for managed device rollouts, and macOS users can now switch between monitors even when the host is in privacy mode. There is also a new option to hide the "Stop Service" button when the service is running, which can help prevent accidental disconnections in managed environments. Additionally, administrators can now allow CLI settings even when a custom client has the disable settings toggle active.
The full list of fixes addresses several lower-level issues: a session reconnection stall on Android when a session was deleted, IPC routing restrictions to active users on root CLI requests, an MSI installer cleanup issue on uninstall, a portable service bootstrap security fix, iOS clipboard synchronization from Windows hosts, and improved detection of Windows session-based login and lock screens.
Windows ARM Support Coming
The team noted that work on a native Windows ARM build is currently in progress but was not ready in time for 1.4.7. It is expected to land in a future update.
