Mp3tag 3.35 Released With RF64-WAV Support and Many Improvements

The popular music tag editor Mp3tag has reached version 3.35 as a stable final release. Developer Florian Heidenreich spent several months refining this version through multiple betas since early May, adding new features, fixing bugs, and polishing the overall experience.

What's New

The headline addition is support for RF64-WAV files larger than 4 GB, a format extension that allows WAV files to exceed the standard 4 GB file size limit, which matters for audiophiles and professionals working with high-resolution, long-duration recordings.

Beyond that, version 3.35 brings several quality-of-life improvements to the interface:

• Spacer element support in toolbar configuration, giving users more control over toolbar layout
• Filter docking left and right next to the toolbars for a more flexible workflow
• A new "Options → Files" dialog that consolidates all file-related configuration options in one place

Bug Fixes

The update also resolves a number of issues, including:

• A confirmation prompt now appears when selecting a result from the search window if there are unsaved tag changes and auto-save is disabled
• Fixed: Tag source result dialog title and file lists not always showing the current selection under Wine
• Fixed: "Customize" context menu item in the Tag Panel opening the wrong options page
• Fixed: Folder renaming with _DIRECTORY under "Convert > Tag – Tag" not working under Wine
• Fixed: Toolbar separator and spacer smart hiding behaving incorrectly
• Fixed: Discogs tag source incorrectly carrying over composer metadata from a default track into sub-tracks
• Fixed: Helper button icons appearing too small or with rendering artifacts in dark mode at certain resolutions
