Microsoft Edge 150 (150.0.4078.48) Ships With Security Fixes
The update patches security vulnerabilities inherited from the underlying Chromium engine alongside a handful of workspace and account-management changes.
Microsoft has rolled out Edge 150 (build 150.0.4078.48) to both the Stable and Extended Stable channels, patching security vulnerabilities inherited from the underlying Chromium engine alongside a handful of workspace and account-management changes.
Security and Compatibility
- Security fixes Microsoft hasn't published an exact vulnerability count, but the fixes are expected to track the large batch Google shipped in the Chromium 150 branch. Users on the Stable and Extended Stable channels will get the update automatically.
- uBlock Origin still works Unlike Chrome, which has already dropped Manifest V2 support, Edge 150 still runs Manifest V2 extensions in initial testing, so ad blockers like uBlock Origin keep working for now.
- Last release for macOS Monterey Edge 150 is the final version supporting macOS 12 (Monterey); Edge 151 will drop that platform
- Workspaces move to a "V2" architecture Microsoft says this improves the backend behind the Workspaces feature, mostly relevant for business users.
- App list removed from the sidebar Microsoft describes this as part of "simplifying" Edge.
- Sign in with a non-Microsoft account A new policy (
NonMicrosoftAccountSignInEnabled) allows signing into Edge with accounts other than a Microsoft one, including Google accounts. - Enterprise additions Protected downloads via Intune MAM, an updated "Show in File Explorer" action, and new security-update warnings surfaced through the Edge management service.
