True to form, the team has once again opted to skip generative AI features, positioning the suite as a privacy-friendly alternative that keeps documents processed locally.
What's New
- Paragraph Composer (Writer): A new layout engine considers consecutive lines together and balances word spacing across the whole paragraph for cleaner, more even text.
- OpenType variable font support: LibreOffice can now use variable fonts that pack multiple weight and style variations into a single font file.
- Better Microsoft Office compatibility: Improved round-tripping of chart formats when exchanging documents with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- N'Ko and Adlam script support in Math, including named functions, alongside automatic bidirectional text handling.
- Calc improvements: Calculated fields are now supported in pivot tables.
- Impress improvements: Presentations can now mix multiple page/slide sizes within a single file.
- No AI features: The Document Foundation continues to keep generative AI out of the suite by design, citing privacy considerations.
