Floating tables now work better with paragraph layout rules like keep with next and don’t split. They can also be split into multiple floating tables, improving Microsoft Word compatibility.
- Better Multilingual Text Alignment
New Start and End paragraph alignment options make it easier to reuse styles across left-to-right and right-to-left languages.
- Automatic RTL Text Detection
Writer can now automatically detect and set the direction of right-to-left text while you type—no manual switching required.
- Faster, Smoother Performance
Many common tasks are noticeably quicker, including scrolling large spreadsheets, working with documents full of shapes, rejecting tracked changes, and exporting SVG files.
- Connectors Arrive in Calc
You can now use connectors directly in Calc spreadsheets, making it easier to build clear diagrams and relationships between objects.
- Smarter Sorting in Calc
The Sort dialog got a major upgrade: natural sorting can now treat decimal separators as normal characters (great for IP addresses), and all sort settings are saved with the file.
- Improved Excel Compatibility
LibreOffice now supports modern Excel clipboard formats, removes paste size limits, and uses Excel 2010–365 as the default XLSX save format.
- Better Media Playback in Impress (Windows)
Impress now uses Microsoft Media Foundation on Windows, improving video and audio playback for common formats—no extra codecs needed.
- Embedded Fonts Handled Properly
Documents with embedded fonts that restrict editing are no longer silently substituted. You can now choose to open them in read-only mode (with correct fonts) or edit mode (with replacements).
