Google Chrome 149 Patches 429 Security Vulnerabilities
The 429-fix count is one of the largest in Chrome's recent history.
Google has released Chrome 149 to the stable channel, and it comes with an unusually large security payload: 429 vulnerabilities fixed, of which 22 are rated Critical. The update (versions 149.0.7827.53 and 149.0.7827.54 on desktop) is rolling out gradually to users over the coming days.
A record-breaking patch round
The 429-fix count is one of the largest in Chrome's recent history. Google did not publish the security details alongside the initial release notes, but added them shortly after. The fixes cover a wide range of vulnerability classes identified through Google's own automated tooling (AddressSanitizer, MemorySanitizer, libFuzzer, AFL) as well as external security researchers.
The companion release for Android (149.0.7827.59) carries the same security fixes. Notably, even Chrome's Android Beta channel was pushed to version 149 rather than moving ahead to 150 — a sign of how serious some of the critical flaws were.
Why this update matters
With 22 Critical-rated vulnerabilities in a single release, Chrome 149 is a high-priority update. Users should check that their browser has updated automatically or trigger the update manually via Help → About Google Chrome.
