Foxit PDF Reader 2025.2 available

Foxit patches 17 security flaws in PDF Reader and Editor - update now.

Foxit Software has shipped a major security fix for its Foxit PDF Reader and PDF Editor, closing a batch of serious vulnerabilities on both Windows and macOS.

The free Foxit PDF Reader is now at version 2025.2, while the paid Foxit PDF Editor also gets patched builds. According to Foxit, the updates kill off multiple high-risk flaws, though no in-the-wild exploits have been spotted yet.

Security researchers dug up up to 17 vulnerabilities, including use-after-free and out-of-bounds read bugs that could let attackers booby-trap PDF files to run arbitrary code. Other holes could allow bypassing digital signatures, siphoning off private data, or triggering denial-of-service attacks.

Per Foxit's security bulletins, all Reader and Editor builds up to 2025.1 are affected. Updating to 2025.2 is the fix. Older PDF Editor releases (13.1.7 and earlier) are also vulnerable and require an upgrade to 13.2 or 14.0.

⚠️ One catch: installing the Foxit PDF Reader also drops in a 14-day trial of Foxit PDF Editor - unless you untick the option during setup.
