Blender 5.1.2 available

The new version fixes crashes and improves stability.

The Blender Foundation has released version 5.1.2 of its popular free and open-source 3D creation suite Blender. The update is focused on stability, addressing a series of crashes and regressions. Both active LTS versions also received maintenance updates.

Fixes in Blender 5.1.2

The release targets several crash scenarios that users had been running into:

  • Edit mode crash after Make Instance Face: Switching into edit mode after using the "Make Instance Face" feature and duplicating an object could cause a crash, now resolved.

  • Vulkan memory leak on Intel Iris Xe (13th Gen): A continuous memory loss during all viewport interactions when using an Intel Iris Xe Gen13 GPU has been fixed.

  • Empty attribute read crash: Blender would crash when reading an empty attribute as a single value, this edge case is now handled correctly.

  • LineArt fixes: Collection intersection flags and priority inheritance were previously unreliable. Both now work as intended. Additionally, intersection lines now correctly follow face mark filtering.

The full list of changes is available in the official release notes.

LTS branches also updated

Users on long-term support versions are not left out:

Blender 4.5.10 LTS resolves a crash that occurred when editing meshes with geometry nodes and armatures simultaneously. It also fixes two Vulkan issues: one causing a black render output with the Nvidia 595.71 driver, and another affecting shader results when mixing colors and BSDFs.

Blender 4.2.21 LTS addresses a crash that reliably occurred in camera view whenever a render region was set.
