Audacity 4.0.1 Released

The Update Includes Stability Fixes, Portable Windows Build and Restored Shortcuts.

Audacity 4.0.1 (build 4.0.1.262721353) arrived, only three weeks after the major Qt6-based rewrite that shipped as Audacity 4.0. The free, open-source audio editor and recorder for Windows, macOS and Linux gets a release that mostly addresses early teething problems, while also adding a few long-requested features.

Audacity offers multi-track recording and mixing with gain and pan, destructive and non-destructive editing, and built-in effects such as EQ, compression and reverb. It handles WAV, AIFF, FLAC and OGG, supports VST, LV2, LADSPA and Nyquist plugins, and needs the separate LAME encoder for MP3 export. The installer is about 47.5 MB.
