7-Zip 26.02 Release Fixes Security Vulnerabilities
This is a maintenance update for the popular open-source file archiver that closes security vulnerabilities and fixes additional bugs.
Igor Pavlov has released 7-Zip 26.02, a maintenance update for the popular open-source file archiver that closes security vulnerabilities and fixes additional bugs. The official changelog is characteristically brief: "Some bugs and vulnerabilities were fixed", but the security component alone makes this a recommended update for all users.
7-Zip is one of the most widely used file compression tools on Windows, and security fixes in the core library matter beyond the standalone app itself: many third-party applications embed the 7-zip.dll, and those projects are expected to integrate 26.02 in their own upcoming releases.
