Update for Chrome 115 available
The update fixes 17 vulnerabilities.
David FischerGoogle has released an update for the Chrome browser. The update eliminates 17 security vulnerabilities. Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi have to follow suit.
The new Chrome versions 115.0.5790.170/171 for Windows and 115.0.5790.170 for macOS and Linux from August 2 fix 17 vulnerabilities in the Google browser. Attacks in which one of these vulnerabilities would be exploited are not yet known. Manufacturers of other Chromium-based browsers have not yet provided any corresponding updates.
The Chrome Release Blog lists 11 of the 17 vulnerabilities patched in Chrome that external security researchers discovered and reported to Google. Google does not classify any of these vulnerabilities as critical.
Google identifies nine gaps as high risk. Three of these vulnerabilities are use-after-free vulnerabilities in various browser components. Three other vulnerabilities affect the Javascript engine V8.
Google Chrome: Check current status
Whether the version used on the computer is already up to date can be checked by clicking on the Chrome menu - which is hidden to the right of the address bar behind the symbol with three vertically stacked dots -, from there to Help - Check via Google Chrome.
The dialog shows the version currently in use, starts downloading and installing the update if necessary, and then prompts you to restart your browser.
