Google has released another security update for its Chrome browser. The developers have eliminated two high-risk vulnerabilities. Chrome updates are also available for Android.

With the new Chrome versions 124.0.6367.155/156 for Windows and macOS and 124.0.6367.155 for Linux from May 7, Google fixed two security vulnerabilities in its browser. None of these vulnerabilities have been exploited for attacks so far. Manufacturers of other Chromium-based browsers will follow suit in the near future.

The Chrome Release Blog lists the two security vulnerabilities that were discovered by external security researchers and reported to Google. Google rates both vulnerabilities as high risk. These are a use-after-free vulnerability in the Angle graphics interface (CVE-2024-4558) and a buffer overflow in the WebAudio component (CVE-2024-4559). The vulnerabilities could be used to inject and execute code.

Update Your Version

You can find out whether the current version is already active on your computer using the Chrome version dialog. This can be opened by clicking on the settings menu, which is located behind the symbol with the three vertically stacked dots to the right of the address bar. It can be found there under HelpAbout Google Chrome.
