Chrome 114 available for download

Google fixes 16 vulnerabilities with the update.

Google has released the new major version Chrome 114. The developers have fixed 16 security vulnerabilities.

The new Chrome versions 114.0.5735.90/91 for Windows and 114.0.5735.90 for macOS and Linux fixes 16 vulnerabilities in the Google browser. Attacks in which one of these vulnerabilities would be exploited are not yet known.

The Chrome Release Blog lists 13 of the 16 patched vulnerabilities that external security researchers discovered and reported to Google. Google does not classify any of these vulnerabilities as critical. Google identifies eight gaps as high risk. Four of these vulnerabilities are use-after-free vulnerabilities, three of which are in the PDF module.

Google mentions the possibility of adapting the design to one's own preferences in Chrome 114. There are a number of themes and color variants to choose from. For example, there are designs that were created by North American natives, LGBTQ artists or those from Asia and the Pacific region. Google also offers an Extensions Starter Kit with 16 selected extensions in the Chrome Store.

Whether the version used on the computer is already up to date can be checked by clicking on the Chrome menu - which is hidden to the right of the address bar behind the symbol with three vertically stacked dots -, from there to Help - Check via Google Chrome.

The dialog shows the version currently in use, starts downloading and installing the update if necessary, and then prompts you to restart your browser.
